Kellie Marksberry accepted the challenge of growing the impact of The American Institute of Stress in May 2011. In this capacity, Kellie manages the day-to-day operations of the Institute and develops and initiates special programs to stretch the reach and broaden the impact of the AIS mission. She brings years of management experience and a strong understanding of mission-driven organizations.

Kellie has a rich and diverse background in program administration, marketing, fundraising, budget management and relationship cultivation.

Kellie began her career in retail marketing and leasing/retailer development for Simon Property Group, Inc. an S&P 500 company and the largest real estate company in the U.S. Kellie’s marketing strategy established a competitive advantage and grew traffic and brand awareness by engaging the customer in more than just shopping—she introduced them to new brands and experiences targeted to their particular lifestage- which helped to differentiate the Simon brand.

In 1999, Kellie shifted her focus to healthcare marketing and organizational brand development when she served as Marketing Director for a regional Home Health and Hospice provider. Kellie developed and implemented a new marketing growth strategy which grew the company from serving two communities to six communities in Southeast Oklahoma. She was determined to continually improve consumer connectivity by developing and implementing integrated marketing campaigns and community education programs. In this position, Kellie also served as physician liaison, ensuring a healthy flow of referrals by the region’s physicians. Those experiences lead her into her most recent venture in medical education.

Kellie has a decade of extensive experience developing marketing and recruitment plans for two international medical schools. Kellie developed new enrollment management processes ranging from strategic marketing, recruitment and admissions processes to working with financial institutions around the globe to procure financial aid sources for both US and foreign medical universities. Her strategies were and are still successful in exceeding aggressive enrollment goals for both universities. Kellie has extensive experience working with both US and foreign medical education accrediting bodies and individual licensure boards in all 50 states and provinces of Canada.

In her new role with the Institute, her focus areas include a streamlined communication outreach approach to ensure successful outcomes with populations at the highest risk of stress related health issues, and the strengthening of the Institute’s brand identity. Kellie works to increase alliances and collaborations between AIS and stress related corporations, non-profit groups and associations in the U.S. and around the world. In addition, Kellie will assure that AIS is a strong Non-Profit citizen contributing to the betterment of the communities in which we operate, in a dynamic and inclusive way.

Kellie also specializes in developing social media outreach campaigns, creates fresh website designs and owns her own marketing and public relations consulting firm in Texas. Kellie spends her free time training for weekend races with a local running club and practicing some of the relaxation techniques she has learned since working for AIS. Kellie and her husband, Dr. Jeff Marksberry (a Fellow of AIS), have a daughter born in 2002, named Brooklynn , two Great Danes- Whimsey and Voodoo and a fat grey cat named Betsy.
