Mr. Monteiro is an independent researcher and scientist from Brazil. In 1972, he became a disciple and follower of the science of Dr. Quintiliano H. de Mesquita, who developed the myogenic theory of myocardial infarction and other pioneer contributions to medical literature (QHM Memorial). Physical and psycho-emotional stress factors are the main triggers for the acute myocardial infarction according the Myogenic Theory.
In 1999, Carlos Monteiro help to found the Infarct Combat Project (ICP) and was elected President by the board of directors. ICP fights heart disease through information, research and education. Carlos Monteiro still works to defend Dr. Mesquita’s medical and scientific ideas, through ICP.
In 2006 he developed a new hypothesis to explain atherosclerosis. This theory named acidity theory of atherosclerosis complements the myogenic theory in the coronary side. The predominance of the sympathetic nervous system is the primary factor in the development of atherosclerosis according to the acidity theory.
His recent book “Acidity Theory of Atherosclerosis – New Evidences”, 2012 is being offered for Kindle readers and in paperback by Amazon.com. Carlos Monteiro is also a non-official member of “The International Network of Cholesterol Skeptics (THINCS)” and a member from the honorary board of “Weston A. Price Foundation”. He became a Fellow of the American Institute of Stress in 2011.
