Henry Does, MD, FAIS

Henry J. Does is MD since 1979 (Royal University Utrecht, Netherlands). He is a BIG-registered occupational health and insurance medicine physician. In these medical specialties he was trained at the Coronel Laboratory/ University of Amsterdam (UVA) and the Netherlands School of Public and Occupational Health (NSPOH). He has published in the Dutch Journal of Occupational and Insurance Medicine (Tijdschrift voor Bedrijfs- en Verzekeringsgeneeskunde).

Henry did his clinical training in mind body medicine in Boston, at the former Mind Body Medical Institute (now Benson Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine) and the Harvard Medical School, under the direction of Herbert Benson, MD.

He was trained in Breathing and Relaxation Therapy at the Center for Breathing and Relaxation Therapy (Centrum voor Adem- en Ontspanningstherapie) in Amersfoort, under the direction of Jan van Dixhoorn, MD, PhD. He is a HeartMath provider. Henry had courses in mindfulness-based stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy at the NSPOH.

Henry works in the Netherlands as an specialist in disability assessment and vocational rehabilitation. He also, as a volunteer at Blue Passaat Foundation, provides stress management and positive health clinics for management and employees of leading companies and public institutions in the Netherlands and Aruba. He is a coach and consultant in the domains of stress, health and human functioning.

Henry was the senior advisor of the Aruban Ministry of Health and Sports, in designing and implementing the national and regional public heath, prevention and health promotion policy of Aruba. The Aruba Call for Action on Obesity was mentioned in the Political Declaration of the High-level Meeting of the General Assemblee of the United Nations on Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases (2011).

Henry is also an essayist and writer.
