Timothy J. O’Brien, M.S. is the Director of the Institute for Stress Management and Performance Improvement, (www.hyperstress.com) based in Tallahassee, Florida. Tim is a Fellow with the American Institute of Stress, a Life Member of the International Society for Performance Improvement, and has been a Kriya Yoga Meditation Instructor since 1976.
Besides his long term personal business and consulting experiences, Tim has a Master’s degree in Instructional Systems, and a Certificate in Human Performance Technology from Florida State University. His B.A. degree is in Psychology from the University of South Fla.
Tim’s areas of expertise are Performance Improvement (both individual and group), Sleep, Meditation, Compassion Fatigue, and Grief. For 14 years, he wrote a column for Knight Ridder Tribune News Service and has published more than 400 print articles and given presentations on grief, compassion fatigue, stress, time management, delegation, generational issues, overcoming the fear of starting your own business and performance improvement.
He specializes in helping individuals and organizations develop a Master Plan for either their Life or Group based on Systems Theory. That is the concept that all parts of every group or organization interact and are interdependent.
Using case studies from his consulting work and personal examples from his 38 years as a “serial entrepreneur,” Tim delivers serious content in a straightforward, often humorous way.
Tim has written 7 continuing education courses for professionals, including the popular “Grief Management: The Role of the Funeral Service Practitioner,” and “Time Tactics: an advanced course.”
He has worked with Funeral Directors, Banks, Real Estate Associations, Medical Groups, Churches, Yoga Retreats, Schools and Universities.
