AIS Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

This website with its home page in the domain www.stress.org (the “Site”) is an informational service offered by The American Institute of Stress (“AIS”), much of which is available at no charge to users of the internet, with the express condition that these users agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set forth in these Terms of Use. AIS reserves the right to change these terms and conditions any time. Use of this Site constitutes your acceptance of all of the following terms and conditions, including our Privacy Policy.

 
Disclaimer Statement

AIS’s Site is for informational purposes only and is not meant to serve as medical advice or to replace consultation with your physician or mental health professional. AIS does not provide any clinical services nor are we able to respond to requests for assistance with personal problems other than to suggest resources that may be helpful when appropriate.

Use of AIS’s Site constitutes an agreement by the users not to hold AIS or any of its employees or officers liable or responsible for information on this Site including comments made by persons or entities not associated with AIS such as authors of AIS magazine articles, webinar presenters, courses, and podcast guests.

This Site includes forums. When you chat or join discussions, you agree to abide by all these Terms and Conditions. We want our community to be a safe, comfortable, and friendly environment. We reserve the right to remove any messages or solicitations that do not meet the standards of these Terms and Conditions. AIS reserves the right to immediately terminate a user’s registration if we become aware and determine that the user is violating any of these Terms and Conditions or any of the discussion forum guidelines.

Commercial solicitation, chain letters, junk mail, “spam,” non-commercial or bulk solicitation, and/or content that infringes the copyrights or rights of privacy, or publicity of others are all prohibited.

Threatening, harassing, libelous, defamatory, vulgar, profane, obscene, abusive, harmful, sexually oriented, racially offensive, inaccurate, or otherwise objectionable material of any kind or nature, is prohibited.

Unlawful material, or any material that encourages or promotes conduct that constitutes a criminal offense, or might give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, federal or international law or regulation is prohibited.

This includes, but is not limited to, information or materials viewed or downloaded from this Site or another website to which it is linked that appear to you to be or may otherwise be construed as obscene, offensive, defamatory, inaccurate, incomplete, or in violation of any proprietary right. In no event will AIS or the contributors of information to this Site be liable to you or anyone else for any decision made or action taken by you based on such information or for any consequential, special or similar damages, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

 

Hate Speech Policy

AIS does not condone or offer a platform for hate speech.  We will not tolerate it or permit its use on platforms of ours.  We reserve the right to delete or refuse to permit language that we find offensive. This includes, but is not limited to, any or all references that in our judgment are derogatory to people of any race, class, ethnicity, culture, gender, age, profession, orientation, or any population category included in state or federal civil rights legislation, whether or not the language or terms used may have been considered acceptable at some other time, in some other place, or by some other population. It also includes any language that would incite people toward violence toward or harassment of others.

 

Endorsements

You acknowledge that the opinions and recommendations contained in this Site are not necessarily those of AIS or endorsed by AIS. AIS provides links on the Site to other websites which are not under the control of AIS. These links are provided for convenience of reference only and are not intended as an endorsement by AIS of the organization or individual operating external websites or a warranty of any type regarding the information on linked sites.

 

Content Usage Policy

Unless otherwise indicated, all information contained on our Site www.stress.org or in written form including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, button icons, photographs, video or audio clips is copyrighted by and proprietary to AIS or owned by and provided by one of our partners and may not be copied, reproduced, transmitted, displayed, performed, distributed, sublicensed, altered, stored for subsequent use or otherwise used in whole or in part in any manner without AIS’s prior written consent, except that the user may make such temporary copies in a single computer’s RAM and hard drive cache as are necessary to browse the Site, and the user may make one permanent copy of each page of the Site, including the AIS magazines, to be used by the user for personal and noncommercial uses. Unless language on our Site expressly permits certain copying or sharing rights of particular downloadable materials, you must obtain written consent to use any material on or accessible through our Site. Data scraping or web crawling of the Site, other than by search engines for purposes of indexing for search purposes in the ordinary course, is prohibited.

AIS Affiliates

AIS affiliates, such as Members, Diplomates and Fellows in good standing are initially exempt from being required to obtain written consent for the use of AIS content for the purposes for which such content is intended by AIS. This exemption may be revoked by AIS with respect to any such affiliate at any time and for any reason.

 

Linking Your Website to Stress.org

AIS is driven by our commitment to promote an understanding of stress science and stress management as a critical part of overall wellness. As such, AIS allows external, hyper-text links to the AIS Site, provided:

(a) any text-only link must clearly be marked “The American Institute of Stress”;

(b) the appearance, position and other aspects of either the link or the host website may not be such as to damage or dilute the goodwill associated with AIS’s name and trademarks; and

(c) the appearance, position and other aspects of either the link or the host website may not create the false appearance that an entity other than AIS is associated with or sponsored by AIS;

(d) AIS reserves the right to revoke its consent to external links at any time at its sole discretion and require that said links are abolished; and

(e) AIS reserves the right to require a reciprocal link to the linking site.

As AIS is a nonprofit it is committed to presenting material in a nonpartisan, noncommercial manner.
